Sandy Springs residents who resolve to be more charitable in the New Year can get an early start when the Sandy Springs Society kicks off its 2008 fundraising season at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 26 with its Goodies and Oldies Auction.
Set at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel, 2450 Galleria Parkway in Cobb County, the event will include both a live and silent auction and feature “goodies” such as vacations, jewelry, gourmet meals and “oldies” like antiques and vintage items.
The $125 per person ticket price to attend includes cocktails and dinner, the right to participate in both the live and silent auctions and “oldies” themed live entertainment provided by a popular British rock band look-alike group.
The deadline to order tickets for the event, which is chaired by society members Carla Sweetwood and Sue Winner, is Jan. 12. Tickets will not be available at the door.
The Sandy Springs Society, a philanthropic group comprised of local women who raise money year round to bestow grants upon local nonprofit organizations doesn’t have a specific fundraising goal, but is hoping for significant community support. The society is hoping for at least the same amount of success as last year’s event.
“Last year’s auction was strictly a high end art auction and raised over $80,000,” Judy Burkholder said.
Tickets may be purchased by calling 404-219-9446 or emailing rcb88@bellsouth.net.
