XXI Forever, GEOX among four opening luxury Perimeter stores
After announcing last year it was targeting luxury retailers, Perimeter Mall has now signed with upscale shoe, apparel and bath products stores, including two which are opening their first Atlanta market shops.
Trendy Beverly Hills fashion boutique XXI Forever and Italian footwear designer GEOX are making their Atlanta debut at Perimeter Mall.
At the same time, shoe and handbag designer Stuart Weitzman and British soap store LUSH, both of which opened their first Atlanta stores in Buckhead’s Lenox Square, are adding second stores at the 1.6 million-square-foot Perimeter Mall.
Most of these stores will open in the shopping wings of either Bloomingdale’s or Nordstrom by the fall. GEOX opened April 27.
The mall management would like to have 20 percent of its retailers in what is considered the luxury category.
Another retailer reportedly considering Perimeter Mall is American Eagle Outfitter’s concept store, Martin + Osa, which would also be its first Atlanta market location.
Travel agency BCD moving to Sandy Springs
Global travel company BCD Travel is relocating to Sandy Springs from Buckhead.
The company reportedly is completing a lease for 81,000 square feet of space at Concourse Corporate Center Six.
BCD Travel presently houses its headquarters for the Americas in Lenox Park in Buckhead, from where it has served the United States, Canada and Latin America.
The company had to scout for a new home when AT&T Inc. announced it was moving its U.S. wireless headquarters to Lenox Park from Glenridge Highlands in the Sandy Springs part of the Central Perimeter submarket.
Actually, BCD Travel is consolidating two smaller offices into the larger office space at Concourse. Its Lenox Park office, where it has housed executives, sales support staff, industry relations and other functions is in the 37,000-square-foot range. The company also has 27,000 square feet in a North Druid Hills office, which houses accounting and information technology.
The company’s newly consolidated offices will occupy a portion of the fourth floor and all of the 11th, 12th and 24th floors of Concourse Corporate Center Six. The new space will afford the company room for its own conference rooms and training facilities, which it has not previously had.
BCD Travel employs about 500 in metro Atlanta.
BCD is subleasing the space through May 2022 that was originally leased by CompuCredit Corp., which markets credit cards, auto loans and other financial products and was hit hard by the credit crisis.
Cox may be expanding its Perimeter area presence
Representatives for Sandy Springs-based Cox Enterprises, Inc. reportedly have been shopping the idea of a new 28-story office tower — and maybe much more — at its Lake Hearn campus, just across I-285 from Perimeter Mall.
The 28-story office tower would become home to the company’s rapidly growing AutoTrader unit, which is expected to add 300-400 employees in Atlanta.
A Cox attorney met with members of the Ashford Alliance neighborhood group, which represents 75 neighborhoods, and presented the plans for the 28-story tower , along with a future 20-story office building, a 350-room hotel and a nine-story parking garage that could possibly be linked to the new fly-over bridge that crosses I-285. The second office tower may not be built for years.
The bridge connects Lake Hearn, adjacent to the Cox property, to Perimeter Mall north of I-285.
If built, the 28-story tower would have 750,000 square feet of office space. Cousins Properties reportedly has been chosen to develop the building. Cousins developed Cox’s main headquarters campus at 6205 Peachtree-Dunwoody Road in Sandy Springs.
