Scores of police officers gathered Feb. 20 as the body of slain Chattahoochee Hills officer Lt. Mike Vogt was buried at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. An honor guard carried Vogt’s flag-draped coffin (above). A bugler in dress uniform (left) played “Taps” for a fallen comrade. A portion of I-285 was closed for the motorcade carrying Vogt’s body from First Baptist Church of Atlanta to the cemetery. Vogt died after he was shot Feb. 15 on a country road. Police have said the man they have accused of the slaying opened fire because he did not want to be arrested and face a second DUI charge.
