Cumberland Academy of Georgia founding director Debbi Scarborough, at center, congratulates the school’s first graduates, Amber Hadden and Tim Caruso. Amber and Tim received their diplomas May 27 and plan on college in the fall. Cumberland opened in 2007 as a school for students with Asperger’s syndrome, attention deficit disorder and other learning challenges. The Sandy Springs school has more than 40 students. Cumberland’s first graduation “means we have 100 percent success,” Scarborough said. “And there’s more to come.”
