Sandy Springs paves 81 miles in five years

Since the city of Sandy Springs incorporated in 2005, it has repaved 81 of the more than 350 miles of road in the city.

A recent release from the city announced 2010’s paving projects were complete. In the last year, the city of Sandy Springs has paved nearly five miles of roads, including Powers Ferry Road, Windsor Parkway and Long Island Drive.

The city studies road conditions every three years and selects roads to pave based on data collected. The Georgia Department of Transportation grants final approval.

Money to pay for the paving comes from the state transportation department and the city of Sandy Springs’ capital budget.
