The Buckhead Reporter carried a story in its June 18 edition that said a year-long stalemate between Christ the King Catholic Church and the Peachtree Heights East Neighborhood Association over church expansion plans had finally been settled with the formal exchange of an agreement for signatures.

Apparently there still remained a stalemate as of June 21, according to the neighborhood association president Sue Roberts.

In an e-mail to her neighbors, Roberts wrote: “The June 18, 2010 issue of the Buckhead Reporter reported that the Cathedral and PHENA had signed an agreement regarding the Special Use Permit granted Christ the King church for its expansion plans. The article was incorrect, as no agreement has been signed by PHENA.

“PHENA did meet with counsel for the Archdiocese,” Roberts continued. “Terms were negotiated at that meeting but there are issues with the language contained in the revised documents submitted by the church.”

The dispute involves agreements reached last year regarding the building and use of Courtyard Park at the rear of the church’s school building along East Wesley Drive.
