At least 200 residents briefly evacuated a Sandy Springs high rise on June 3 because of a fire on the balcony of a unit on the 18th floor, Sandy Springs firefighters reported.
Residents of Park Towers II at 789 Hammond Drive evacuated the building about 5 p.m. June 3 while firefighters located and extinguished the blaze, Assistant Sandy Springs Fire Chief Mark Duke said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. It appeared to be a mechanical fire in an air-conditioning unit on the balcony, he said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, Duke said.
