Sandy Springs Police recently announced that Jessica Oliver on June 29 graduated from the North Central Law Enforcement Academy and is the first city officer who isn’t a veteran of another department.
The police department says Oliver is considered a “true rookie.”
“As a new start-up department in 2006, Sandy Springs Police required a minimum of five years’ experience,” the police department explained on its website. “As the department grew from the original 86 officers to the current strength of 127, it made entry-level hiring more feasible.”
The next step for Oliver is field training and eventually an assignment to the patrol division.
