The Printing and Imaging Association of Georgia gave Sandy Springs Hospitality & Tourism the Best of Category award in the 2012 Print Excellence competition, according to a recent announcement.

The PIAG gave the award in May, according to a press release.

Sandy Springs Hospitality and Tourism won for the November 2011 edition of its newsletter, “Living it Upscale in Sandy Springs.” The edition featured the city’s annual Veterans Day Celebration, the press release said.

“PIAG’s Print Excellence Competition is one of the largest state printing competitions in the nation,” the press release said. “This year, it attracted more than 500 entries from 29 printing and imaging companies and four graphic arts high schools from across the state.”

The press release said the judges ranked the city’s newsletter based on clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, overall visual impact and bindery.
