Sandy Springs is looking for a new economic development leader to take the city’s economic plan to the next level.

City Spokeswoman Sharon Kraun said on Aug. 28 that the city is currently interviewing candidates for an economic development planner. She said the city hopes to hire someone soon.

For nearly two months the city has been without someone focused exclusively on economic development. Jahnee Prince, the city’s former economic development manager, left at the end of June when her $50,000 contract ended. Prince, in coordination with the Economic Development Advisory Committee, produced an economic development plan.

The plan, released in August, contains a broad outline of strategies the city should pursue in attracting new businesses to the community.

Kraun said Prince’s contract was intended to “get things rolling.”

“We’re looking for someone with the depth of experience to bring those plans to life,” Kraun said.
