Two dozen candidates are running for seats on the first Brookhaven City Council. Four contend for mayor. The others seek City Council seats representing one of the four districts in the city.
Candidates and community groups are scheduling a number of public meetings so voters can get to know who’s running. Here are some public events that have been scheduled.
Sept. 12 – Hope Bawcom, candidate for city council in District 3, holds an open Q&A Forum in Brookhaven Park. 6 p.m.
Sept. 18 – Julia Russo, candidate for city council in District 3, meets with Friends of Briarwood Park, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Sept. 25 – Russell Mitchell, candidate for city council in District 2, meets with Friends of Briarwood Park, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Sept. 27 — Candidates in the District 2 city council race — Jim Eyre, Larry Hurst and Russ Mitchell – are to appear onstage together at Ashford Park Elementary School in a forum hosted by the Ashford Park Civic Association. 7 p.m.
Oct. 2 – Kevin Quirk, candidate for city council in District 3, meets with Friends of Briarwood Park, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Oct. 3 — Candidates for mayor — Larry Danese, J.Max Davis, Sandy Murray and Thom Shepard –are to appear at Ashford Park Elementary in a debate hosted by the Ashford Park Civic Association. 7 p.m.
Oct. 9 – Deborah Anthony, candidate for city council in District 3, meets with Friends of Briarwood Park, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Oct. 16 – Hope Bawcom, candidate for city council in District 3, meets with Friends of Briarwood Park, starting at 6:30 p.m.
