Andrea Hall

The city has a new person to head up its business recruitment efforts.

The City Council on Oct. 2 approved hiring Andrea Hall as Economic Development Director. Hall previously was redevelopment coordinator with the city of Smyrna.

The city will fill the position through a task order to The Collaborative, the contractor that handles the city’s communications and permitting departments.

The task order increase is $96,000 for 37 weeks of work, which includes salary and benefits.

The contract lasts through June 30, 2013, the end of the fiscal year. The city has been without an economic development official since Jahnee Prince left in June. Prince’s contract was worth $50,000.

Hall was in charge of Smyrna’s redevelopment projects which included Tax Allocation District programs and the city’s purchase of two apartment complexes for redevelopment, according to a press release.

Hall previously worked for Mirant, an energy company that in 2010 merged with another company to create GenOn Energy. While at Mirant she worked as a policy development manager, and economic development principal among other jobs. Prior to that, she worked with Arthur Andersen, LLP as a senior consultant in the real estate and hospitality services group.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University and a master’s in city planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
