Transportation officials are warning drivers that this weekend, once again, they should expect lengthy delays on I-285 because of repaving.
“It would be wise to seek alternate routes if you don’t have to be in the area,” Georgia DOT District Construction Engineer Lee Upkins said in a press release. “If you do, give yourself extra time to navigate the work zones.”
DOT officials have issued similar warnings over the past several weekends because of a continuing repaving project.
A number of ramps in both directions will be closed at various times throughout the weekend, Georgia DOT said. Construction and maintenance work will also be underway on several state routes around metro Atlanta throughout the weekend, the transportation agency said.
Other projects affecting traffic this weekend include bridge work on Ga. 400 northbound (from I-85 to Sidney Marcus Boulevard and around I-85/Peachtree Road); Ga. 400 southbound (from Lenox Road to Sidney Marcus Boulevard and around I-85/Peachtree Road) and work around the Sidney Marcus Boulevard/Ga. 13 intersection, the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts said in a press release.
