This Independence Day, Georgia pecans are breaking free from their traditional pie confines. The Georgia Pecan Growers Association has partnered with local ice cream maker YOM to create a unique butterscotch pecan push pop.

Mary Bruorton, executive director of the association, said, “This partnership will expand our presence in specialty retail stores across Atlanta.”

To celebrate, free push pops will be distributed at various locations around the city from July 3-7.

Sampling events include Grant Park Market, B Side in Decatur, Candler Market, Peachtree Road Farmers Market, Piedmont Park Green Market, and Atlanta Botanical Garden.

YOM co-founder William McLane stated, “Our slogan is ‘Skip the pie. Push the pop.’ We think ice cream lovers will have fun celebrating July 4th with these new push pops.”

The partnership aims to offer a cool alternative to traditional pecan pie during the summer heat. Atlantans can find YOM’s Georgia Butterscotch Pecan flavor and others at neighborhood markets or via the company’s online store locator.
