Actor Gene Wilder paid a visit to Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in Sandy Springs on Nov. 17, the school reported.
Wilder is best-known for his role as Willy Wonka in “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” as well as his work with writer-director Mel Brooks in films such as “The Producers,” “Young Frankenstein” and “Blazing Saddles.”
Wilder’s step-grandson is a student at Holy Innocents, the school reported.
“Last spring at our gala, the school auctioned off a visit from Mr. Wilder to a classroom,” the school reported. “The child who won is in a first-grade classroom. Teacher there is Kristin Ahler. He came with his wife, Karen Webb.”
According to the school, Wilder spent time telling students which candy in “Willy Wonka” was fake and which was real.
“Each child got to ask a question and received an autograph and a loving hug,” the school reported.
