Former Riverwood International Charter School Principal Eddie Echols faces charges related to conduct that prompted his resignation last September, according to a Fulton County Schools official.
Fulton County Schools spokeswoman Samantha Evans confirmed that the Fulton County District Attorney’s office last month charged Echols with identity fraud, theft by taking, and financial transaction card fraud. He turned himself in to authorities, Evans said.
Prior to his resignation, school officials found that Echols made both personal and school purchases with an American Express card. At the time he resigned, there were no allegations that Echols committed a crime.
Echols had served as Riverwood’s principal in 2002.
Evans said following the resignation, school police officers continued investigating and turned their findings over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s office.
