Ballethnic Dance Company’s production of “Jazzy Sleeping Beauty” is onstage this weekend at the Ferst Center for the Performing Arts on the Georgia Tech Campus. If you want to catch it – hurry! The show opened last night and continues through Sunday, March 25.

I love the Ferst Center for the intimacy, acoustics and charm, so add to that the energy of the score from “Jazzy Sleeping Beauty,” and it’s a perfect evening.  This all ages show will really resonate with children – from the  variety of ages twirling onstage, the lovely costumes to the recognizable music.

Act one was a twist on the original fairy tale, filled with fun numbers, evil creatures and a love connection. Act two moves 100 years forward right onto the floor of a 1940s jazz nightclub. The energy changes dramatically and you don’t stop snapping your fingers or wagging your finger until they live happily ever after.  This show would be a happy addition to your weekend plans! For more about the show, visit www.ballethnic.org.
