A suspect in two metro Atlanta bank robberies was apprehended this morning at the Greyhound bus terminal in Downtown Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Police Department’s Sgt. Greg Lyon. In both robberies, the suspect, Jeremy Thompson, showed the tellers a hand grenade and threatened to use it if they did not empty the cash drawers into a bag.

Thompson allegedly robbed two Wells Fargo Bank branches, one at 2204 Peachtree Road in Buckhead on Aug. 29, and at 6140 Jimmy Carter Blvd. on Sept. 2.

Around midnight,  the suspect was spotted by security inside the Greyhound station on Forsyth Street  attempting to purchase a bus ticket, according to Lyons. The suspect was then taken into custody without incident by undercover task force officers and Greyhound security. The hand grenade that the suspect used in both robberies was recovered and determined to be inert.
