It seems apt that the band Panic! At The Disco was performing at Downtown concert hall The Tabernacle when the building had to be evacuated last night. According to a report from our affiliate CBS Atlanta, the fire marshall ordered an evacuation of the 100-year-old venue when concert-goers and officials felt the floor shake and give.
The evacuation was orderly and no injuries were reported. The band’s lead singer, Brendon Urie, tweeted an apology to Atlanta fans about having to cut the concert short, but said they would return in the summer.
Officials have closed The Tabernacle to bring in a structural engineer to evaluate the issue with the floor. The Tabernacle posted this message to fans on its Facebook page:
The safety of all at The Tabernacle – fans, performers and crew – is our number one priority and we will always side with caution. We were completely impressed with how calmly everyone left the building when directed by the Fire Marshall. The Tabernacle is a historical 100 year old building. We will be meeting with a structural engineer ASAP to make sure the building is safe for another 100 years.
