The Georgia Supreme Court heard arguments on Monday by a group of Atlanta residents who allege that the city’s use of the hotel/motel tax dollars to pay for the new Falcons stadium is unconstitutional. According to our media affiliate CBS46, the city will divert 33 percent of the 7 percent tax on hotels and motels to the construction of the new stadium. Residents who live near the stadium site, and the current Georgia Dome, say more money needs to be spent on the urban renewal of the neighborhoods. A ruling isn’t expected until March.
