Local and federal authorities continue to search for an escaped fugitive wanted for murder and a $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force have teamed up with other law enforcement agencies to find Shane Woods.
Woods escaped during his murder trial in February from the Fulton County Courthouse in downtown Atlanta. Woods was out on bond and in civilian clothing. During the trial, prosecutors asked for his bond to be revoked because they alleged he tampered a witness. During a court recess, Woods walked away from the courthouse.
Although not at his trial, Woods was convicted of murdering Zachary Rose in Alpharetta in January 2013. He was sentence to life in prison plus five years.
Sandy Springs Police arrested Woods’ accomplice, Jerad Terel Owens, days after the slaying that occurred during a botched drug deal. Owens pleaded guilty in February to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Woods is 25 years old, 6-feet tall and weighs approximately 155 pounds. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. The public is advised not to approach the subject. Citizens are urged to report his whereabouts to authorities.
