A Dunwoody resident announced he has formed an exploratory search committee to look into the possibility of an independent running for U.S. Rep. Tom Price’s seat.
“After talking to my family, I have decided to take this initial step of forming an exploratory committee in order to raise the resources and build the campaign organization required to pursue the U.S. House of Representatives seat for Georgia’s 6th Congressional district,” Alexander Hernandez said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to talk with my fellow Georgians to determine the best way we can meet challenges ahead.”
Hernandez filed the necessary paper work to form the Congressional Exploratory Committee for Alexander Hernandez with the Federal Elections Commission Dec. 12.
“Being that Rep. Tom Price is expected to be nominated for secretary of Health and Human Services and Gov. Nathan Deal will announce a special election, the committee feels it appropriate for an independent to test the waters for what will be a short race,” states a press release from Hernandez.

Hernandez was born in Illinois and grew up in Indiana. He completed his studies in Florida where he received a bachelor of science in film. He moved to Dunwoody this year.
He is a property crafts person in the film and television industry. He was elected to the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts (IATSE) Local 44 executive board as a property craft representative. He said his experience includes being involved in labor politics.
Price has been nominated by president-elect Donald Trump to be the secretary of Health and Human Services. His nomination must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Price has not yet resigned his Congressional seat.
State Sen. Judson Hill (R-Marietta), whose District 32 includes part of Sandy Springs, announced a run for Price’s seat Nov. 30. Numerous other GOP elected officials and former elected officials are reportedly considering running for the seat.
Today paperwork was filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) announcing the formation of Dunwoody resident Alexander Hernandez’s Congressional exploratory committee.
