Robert Zemeckis’s 1978 film “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” will screen this Friday at the Plaza Theatre.

The film follows a group of teenagers who head to New York City to meet The Beatles before the band’s famous appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show” in 1964. The screening will take place on Feb. 9, 60 years to the day of that historic performance.

“I Wanna Hold Your Hand” was written and directed by Zemeckis, and marks his feature film debut. Zemeckis would go on to direct movies like “Romancing the Stone,” “Back to the Future,” and “Forrest Gump.”

Eddie Deezen, who plays Richard “Ringo” Klaus in the film, will introduce the film and participate in a post-screening Q&A. Deezen is best known for his storied career playing nerdy characters in movies like “Grease” and “1941.”

Tickets for the Feb. 9 screening can be purchased online.
