The 38th annual Artistic Affair fundraiser by Spruill Center for the Arts was one for the record books, with nearly $100,000 raised. Last year’s event raised $82,000.

The gala was held on March 23 at the facility’s newly completed expansion and courtyard space.

“We’re blown away by the community support for Spruill and Artistic Affair in particular,” Spruill CEO Alan Mothner said. “On behalf of our staff and board of directors, thank you.”

That total included more than $8,000 that will be channeled to youth scholarships for camps and other programs. While the weather was predicted to be rainy, it held off for the more than 300 guests who ate, drank, and purchased works of art created by Spruill instructors and students, as well as items donated by community businesses.

The live auction featured unique experiences, a painting that was created during the event, and a rare bottle of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon. Guests were also able to participate in competitive raffle drawings and a “best dressed” competition.

Carol Brull, who established an endowment for the Larch Creative fund, was presented with the annual Bob Kinsey award. The endowment will allocate $50,000 annually to creative projects both at Spruill and in the community.

The event was presented by Northside Hospital, Regency Centers, and Trident Construction. Rough Draft Atlanta was the media sponsor for the event.
