A public open house on the Peachtree Dunwoody Road Multi-Use Trail will be hosted on Aug. 15 by Sandy Springs and the Perimeter Community Improvement District.

The open house will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 1100 Abernathy Road, 500 Northpark, in the Peachtree Dunwoody Conference Room, a news release said.

The project aims to enhance bicycle and pedestrian safety and access on the west side of Peachtree Dunwoody Road, from Hammond Drive to Mt. Vernon Highway. It will establish a 12-foot-wide bicycle and pedestrian side path with a 6-foot-wide landscape buffer, the release said. This initiative includes design, right-of-way acquisition, utility coordination, and construction phases.

The trail will increase connectivity to the Sandy Springs and Medical Center MARTA stations. It also will integrate with the Peachtree Dunwoody Lake Hearn Connectivity Project, Path 400, and the Mt. Vernon Highway Corridor Improvements.

Sandy Springs City Council awarded a bid for design services to Kimley-Horn for $453,745 on Dec. 5, 2023.

Funding is being provided by the city and the Perimeter Community Improvement District. The city’s funding is included within the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) program approved by voters in Sandy Springs and Fulton County as part of the T-SPLOST referendum.
