Five years after the COVID-19 pandemic made working from home the norm, the City of Atlanta is mandating that employees return to in-person office work.

According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Mayor Andre Dickens’ administration informed workers that they must return to city hall in April.

A letter sent to employees on March 10 said city staff must go to their offices at least three days a week, but requirements will vary based on position. Staff for ATL311 will remain fully remote, according to the report.

“Thank you for all you do to keep Atlanta Moving Forward!” Interim Commissioner of Human Resources Calvin W. Blackburn III said in the letter. “We look forward to seeing everyone on April 10th, 2025.”

President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order requiring federal workers to return to their offices, including Centers for Disease Control and Prevention employees working at the Emory and Chamblee campuses.
