Meals On Wheels Atlanta (MOWA), a nonprofit dedicated to serving the city’s senior population, appointed four new members to its board of trustees.

The organization announced that Michael Astwood, Kevin Gillespie, Michelle Marshall and Alfredo Martin are joining the team.

“We’re very proud to welcome Michael, Kevin, Michelle and Alfredo to our board,” said Charlene Crusoe-Ingram, MOWA’s chief executive officer. “Their extensive backgrounds and wealth of knowledge across different fields of discipline will be invaluable assets to Meals On Wheels Atlanta as we celebrate our 60th year of providing for Atlanta’s underserved senior communities.”

Astwood is the founder of ASRT, Inc., a small business that provides “expertise and science and technology-based solutions in health, science and medicine to federal, state and local government.”

Prior to ASRT, Inc., Astwood served as chief operating officer for IHRC, Inc., a business management consulting firm based out of Dunwoody, Georgia.

Gillespie is a famed chef, restaurateur and cookbook author that garnered acclaim while competing on the sixth season of Bravo’s hit cooking competition series, Top Chef.

Since his time on the show, Gillespie has launched several restaurants like Gunshow and Nàdair, along with receiving numerous award nominations — such as being a finalist for the James Beard Foundation’s “Outstanding Restaurateur” honor.

Marshall is the founder and chief executive officer of The PurposeWell Group, a consulting company that “designs purpose-driven programs, partnerships and experiences at the intersection of culture, equity and opportunity,” according to a release.

Before The PurposeWell Group, Marshall was previously the head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Impact for the renowned sporting brand, PUMA North America.

Martin is currently the executive director of The Columbia Foundation, a philanthropic organization that provides support to a number of areas like children’s causes, education and the arts.

In addition to serving as a finance professional for companies like KPMG, Deloitte and Ford Motor Company, Martin is also on The Atlanta Opera’s board of directors, the Atlanta Chamber Players board and the advisory council for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Established in 1965, MOWA provides support for seniors struggling with hunger and social isolation through services such as meal deliveries and at-home repairs.
