There’s a new farmers market in town, and from the looks of its first week, it’s going to become a Dunwoody favorite.
On June 1, the inaugural Shops of Dunwoody Farmers Market opened for business with 33 vendors and 800 visitors, according to Polina Williams of SPS Productions, who also began the Chamblee Farmers Market in April.
The market, which will run through Nov. 16 on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., includes many vendors who do not frequent the Dunwoody Homeowners Association Market on Saturdays at Brook Run Park, Williams said.
“We want everyone to succeed, not at the expense of another, so we don’t have a lot of overlap with the vendors we have at the Shops of Dunwoody,” Williams said.
Williams, who grew up Dunwoody, said the journey to running farmers markets stemmed from her desire to connect with community.
“When I was younger, I had a hard time in school. I was heavily isolated, and lacked communication skills,” she said. “Shortly after high school, I started a non-profit called The Push Back Project. Our goal was to educate about bullying while building support groups.”
The success of the group led to a successful art fundraiser, which spurred Williams to want to continue on her mission to develop more public community opportunities, and she hosted a ar market in 2024, with more than 300 people attending it.
After having two children, Williams, a Chamblee resident said she saw the need for a farmers market in Chamblee, and then Dunwoody.
“I knew the Shops of Dunwoody, where I had so many great memories, had to be the location of our second market,” she said. “It was such a full-circle moment, seeing my business name on the sign, in a place I went so many times as a little girl.”
