Georgia Tech has unveiled plans to expand its campus on a more than seven-acre site between Marietta Street and North Avenue.

The Creative Quarter will be located at the former Randall Brothers building materials factory site at 665 Marietta Street, and connected to the campus and Science Square by the student-designed Westside Connector Community Bridge spanning the railroad tracks.

According to Georgia Tech, Creative Quarter will feature “modern and collaborative facilities, spaces, and technology for performance and rehearsal, recording and filming, virtual reality and AI, makerspaces and studios, and more.”

The long-term vision for the district is to use public-private partnerships to build out the area to include retail, residential, a hotel, offices and a food hall.

The campus expansion is also being positioned to engage with Atlanta and Georgia’s multibillion-dollar arts and entertainment industry, according to Georgia Tech.

A construction timeline has not been released by the college.
