The Dunwoody Homeowners Association at its Oct. 26 meeting announced that its popular Light Up Dunwoody event will move to the lawn of the Donaldson-Bannister House at the corner of Chamblee Dunwoody and Vermack Road.

“We’ve outgrown the Burger King parking lot [at the Shops of Dunwoody],” said DHA president Tim Brown. “This new location has a lot of working parts, but we are excited about it.”

Parking will be available at nearby Independence Square Office Park and Vermack Pool for the Nov. 16 event, which will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and culminate with the twilight lighting of the holiday tree and menorah.

Entertainment will include routines by Dan & Company dancers, a performance by the Dunwoody High School band, crafts for children, and an appearance by Santa. Spruill Center for the Arts will supply materials to make an ornament to take home or place on the DHA tree.

Food trucks will also be on site. This year, organizers have rented a large stage to help with visibility, Brown said.

In other news, Brown said the Oct. 22 DHA/Rough Draft Atlanta candidate forum received positive feedback from attendees and candidates.

“We were elated at the turnout, and the venue [Stage Door Theatre] was phenomenal,” he said. “We hope to have the forums there forever.”

Brown said he was pleased with the attendance in a non-mayoral election year and said that number will be much higher when the top seat is up for grabs in two years.
