In the meantime
Dec. 31 — This week sits in a familiar in-between: after the rush, before whatever comes next. For many of us, the calendar is technically open, even if our minds aren’t quite there yet.
That pause makes it a useful moment to look ahead. Atlanta’s 2026 visual arts calendar is already taking shape, offering a series of exhibitions, fairs, and public projects. These are ATL arts moments to plan for, return to, and live alongside – not just note in passing.
At ZuCot Gallery, however, they’re looking back. The gallery’s annual exhibition, “My Favorite Things,” highlights pieces and painters worthy of a second look. The show asks that we reconsider and reflect not only on the work but also on the common themes of identity, reclamation, and self-definition.
In a moment when attention is stretched thin, these stories remind us that presence is a decision. Planning ahead and looking back are ways of choosing what we keep in view.
What do you have your eyes on?
