Plans for a 7 Brew in downtown Tucker will be presented to the City Council in June after the Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of the special land-use permit for the drive-thru coffee shop.

During an April meeting, members of the commission voted to defer the requests for rezoning, a Special Land Use Permit, and concurrent variance to the plan because of inconsistencies with the proposed design and the downtown Tucker character area.

During the commission meeting on May 21, Julie Sellers, managing partner with land use litigation firm Dillard Sellers, presented a new architectural design with different materials and a different roof line. The design, which was recommended for approval by the commission, will closely resemble the plan for the 7 Brew coming to Sandy Plains Road in Marietta.

The new proposal for Tucker’s 7 Brew also includes a small outdoor dining pavilion, a double drive-thru, and pedestrian walk-up window. The staff’s conditions for approval also require glazing, architectural detailing, or public art to be added to the wall facing Lynburn Drive.

The rezoning proposal will be presented to the city council for a first read on June 8, and members of the council will do a second read and vote on July 13. If approved, the 7 Brew will be located at the current site of the historic yellow house, the former location of the Shops at Tucker House gift shop, on the corner of Lawrenceville Highway and Lynburn Drive.
