The city of Sandy Springs is hosting an open house regarding improvements planned for the Johnson Ferry Road/Mount Vernon Highway Corridor. There will not be a formal presentation, but city representatives will be available with plans and displays to discuss the project and answer questions.

The open house takes place Thursday, April 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at City Hall, 7840 Roswell Road.

The proposed project includes two roundabouts. The first is recommended to be located west of the Johnson Ferry Road, Mount Vernon Highway and Boylston Drive intersection. The second roundabout is planned for the intersection at Johnson Ferry Road, Mount Vernon Highway and Mount Vernon Towers driveway. Sidewalks will be added to both sides of the roadway.  The projected is expected to improve vehicular and pedestrian mobility by alleviating existing bottleneck conditions at this corridor.

On March 17, the city council approved a contract for the design of the project.

One reply on “Sandy Springs to hold open house on Johnson Ferry roundabouts”

  1. Since the bottleneck occurs on the Roswell Rd Johnson Ferry intersection maybe adding a right and left turn dedicated lanes would help. Cars already cut through Sandy Springs Plaza to take a right to north Roswell Rd. Eminent domain could be used to secure land for the lanes and might be less than the planed 14 million cost. Currently most drivers know not to block an intersection. How will they deal with a bumper to bumper roundabout ?
