In response to continued high temperatures, DeKalb County, is partnering with local service providers to offer cooling centers to assist vulnerable residents seeking relief from the extreme heat.
County officials encourage seniors, unhoused individuals, and residents without adequate cooling to take advantage of these locations during operating hours, according to a release from the county
The following cooling centers are currently open:
- South DeKalb Day Center at New Life Community Alliance – 3592 Flat Shoals Rd., Decatur GA 30034.
- Frontline Response – 2585 Gresham Rd., Atlanta, GA 30316
- Peace Baptist Church Annex – 3999 Covington Highway, Decatur, GA 30032
- Golden Door Event Center – 2944 Ember Drive, Decatur, GA 30034
- Operating Schedule:
All four centers will be open Saturday, July 18.
Frontline Response will be the only center open on Sunday, July 19.
All four centers will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, July 20, 21, and 22.
