The city of Brookhaven is celebrating spring over the course of April and May with events for a wide range of ages.
The first event is a bird walk in Murphey Candler Park on Saturday, April 13, at 8 a.m. Kevin O’Toole will lead the field trip, rain or shine, through several habitats. Peak Spring warbler season for the park is mid-April to mid-May, and Murphey Candler Park is a welcoming site for beginning birders. Registration is required.
On Friday, April 26, the 7th annual Earth Day celebration is being held at Horseshoe Road amphitheater in Murphey Candler Park from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Food, music, activities for kids, and educational programming will be in motion with conservation partners.
The Brookhaven Bike Alliance is back on the streets with weekly group rides on Mondays and Wednesdays. Pedal the Parks is an annual event taking place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, at Skyland Park.
The Brookhaven Bolt 5k, a race to support Ashford Elementary School, is planned for Sunday, May 18. Runners, walkers, and strollers are welcome at this race through Ashford Park neighborhood.
