Atlanta Public Schools has been named a 2026 Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award (GEWA) winner, marking the second straight year the district has received the distinction.
The award honors organizations that build high-performing cultures by helping employees focus on their greatest strengths. APS serves approximately 50,000 students and families across 87 learning sites throughout the city, according to a release from the school system.
Gallup recognized APS for maintaining a deep investment in its people despite ongoing disruption and rapid change in today’s workplace. By centering its culture on strengths-based development, the district works to maximize the potential of individual employees and teams — with the goal of delivering better, more sustainable outcomes for students.
“This achievement directly reflects our strategic plan’s focus area, ‘Our Strength Is Our Team, ‘which emphasizes investing in our people,” said APS Superintendent Dr. Bryan Johnson in the release. “The GEWA recognition demonstrates the progress we are making in developing our staff and ensuring every student in Atlanta Public Schools is supported by effective, engaged teachers, leaders, and staff.”
