The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Georgia has jumped 48 cents since the start of the Iran War from $2.78 to $3.22, according to the AAA Fuel Prices website.

While price tracker GasBuddy.com said the average price in Metro Atlanta is $3.27, our reporters found a range of prices at local gas stations on March 8.

The Shell station at Roswell Road and I-285 in Sandy Springs had regular priced at $3.69 per gallon, while an Exxon at Northlake Parkway and Lavista Road had regular for $3.14 per gallon.

In Atlanta, the Exxon at Boulevard and Ralph McGill had regular for $3.59, while the Shell at Piedmont and Monroe had regular for $3.09.

As with many stations, gas is often as much as 10 cents higher if paying by credit or debit card instead of cash.

Global crude prices jumped immediately after the conflict began, fueled by uncertainty over oil supply routes through the Strait of Hormuz, which is controlled by Iran.

As of March 8, oil prices are high, with West Texas Intermediate crude around $90-$91 per barrel and Brent crude at $92-$93 per barrel.
