The City of Sandy Springs has been recognized for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the city its Certificate of Achievement of Excellence in Financial Reporting. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
Sandy Springs Finance Director Steve Rapson was primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR, which was judged by an impartial panel to meet high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The city also received the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement.
“These awards are very meaningful to us,” Rapson said. “To do this in our first six months of cityhood is an incredible feat. We have a great team who pulled together to get this accomplished.”
