Holiday MusicThe Georgia State University School of Music will host their 12th Annual Gala Holiday Concert this Saturday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m at the Rialto Center for the Arts.  This year’s concert will feature traditional holiday favorites combined with some international innovations.

The event will include performances from more than 200 Georgia State University student and faculty musicians, as well as appearances by Dr. Constantine Kokenes, a well-known Byzantine Chanter and “lampadarios” (second cantor) at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Atlanta, the Cao Ying Dance School dancing the Acalokitesvara, a traditional Chinese dance, and students from the Charles Drew R. Charter School performing Kakilambe, a dance of healing and harvest from Guinea, West Africa to the instruments of the djembe orchestra.

Before the performance, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy an art exhibit presented by the Georgia State Universiy School of Art and Design in the Rialto Lobby accompanied by the hums of a student brass quintet.
