Neighborhood Planning Unit A began 2010 as sort of a rudderless ship, having determined that Ray Mock, who was to continue as chairman was not eligible because he actually lives in the area governed by NPU-B.
The election of a new chair, which was scheduled for the Jan. 5 NPU-A meeting, was tabled so that the group could get a clarification on procedure for the new election from the city’s Planning Department. That department was not available to provide the information in time for the meeting because of the holidays.
According to Mock, the NPU is “going through the nominating experience again.” He said he expects the procedure question will be ironed out by the Jan. 26 executive committee meeting and that the new election will be able to take place at the NPU’s meeting the first Tuesday in February.
Mock said he expects that Brinkley Dickerson will be elected the 2010 chairman of NPU-A at that time.
Referring to his own status after serving as the NPU’s chair for 2009, Mock jokingly stated: “NPU-A is not eligible for my services.”
