The Church of Scientology is suing the city of Sandy Springs because of the city’s refusal to allow the church to expand a former office building into its Georgia headquarters. Legal actions filed in U.S. District Court and in Fulton County Superior Court Jan. 13 and 14 contend the city infringed on church’s rights when its City Council voted Dec. 15 to approve the rezoning of a building at Roswell Road and Glenridge Drive, but denied the church’s request to enclose a basement parking garage. City officials said there wasn’t enough parking for the additional enclosed space.
