This is a festive “FUNdraiser” in order to rebuild the Galerie Monnin in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, which was destroyed by last month’s devastating earthquake. Visitors are encouraged to participate and tell their own stories. The theme of the evening is “surviving disaster to tell our tale,” according to Sycamore Place Gallery owner/curator Sylvia Cross. Everyone is invited to participate because we all have a story to tell. There will be an auction of art work and visitors are encouraged to make a donation at the door. All proceeds benefit the Galerie Monnin Fund.
Sycamore Place Gallery is located at 120 Sycamore Place, across from the Ice House Lofts. For more information, call (404) 377-7747.
I bought at least one painting from the Galerie Monnin when I lived in Haiti in the early 1970’s. What paintings are being sold now? Is there a website where I can see the paintings? (Or did you sell them all already?!) I want to help the Haitians in any way I can.
