Buckhead Business Association Executive Director Sharon Silva announced May 6 that she is resigning at the end of the month in order to spend more time with her 89-year-old father.

During the five years Silva has been executive director the BBA has grown in membership and has developed several new programs, including the Taste of Buckhead Business Expo, which will be held again this year at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Buckhead on May 20.

“There is never a good time to make a change and certainly this was a tough decision to make,” Silva told the BBA members and guests during the organization’s weekly breakfast meeting at the City Club of Buckhead. “It is the perfect job.”

Silva said one of the things she enjoy most about the BBA “is we are different from so many other organizations. Our members get to know each other and genuinely like each other.”

She predicted there are still great things to come for the organization.

“I will still be part of the BBA,” she said. “I will be on the other side sitting in a chair. I want to thank you all for your support.”

BBA President Heather Wright said the board has established a search committee to consider a replacement for Silva, who plans to leave as executive director at the end of May.
