Brent McBride is the new principal at Heards Ferry Elementary School.

Heards Ferry Elementary School in Sandy Springs has a new principal, Brent McBride.

McBride was formerly the school’s assistant principal. He replaces Susan Dorenkamp as principal. She recently was named an instructional area superintendent for the Fulton County School System.

McBride started teaching first and third grades in Macon. He moved to Forsyth County Schools in 2002 and became an instructional technology specialist at Sawnee Elementary School.

In 2007, he came to Heards Ferry as assistant principal. In that role, McBride served on the school system’s technology advisory committee, led presentations at national conferences focusing about technology integration, and oversaw outreach efforts in the Sandy Springs community.

McBride holds a masters degree in technology in education from Lesley University and a specialist degree in educational administration and supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
