Atlanta Police have made an arrest in the case of a man who has been accused of harassing and exposing himself to women and girls in multiple Intown neighborhoods for the past seven months.
APD arrested Christian Johnson, 34, on a warrant for indecent exposure for an incident that happened earlier this month in Inman Park.
No other details on the arrest have been released as of July 23. Rough Draft has reached out to APD for more information on the case.
The incident that prompted the warrant occurred in early July, as the victim, who has asked to remain anonymous, said she was walking to her Inman Park home. She said it was her second encounter with the man.
The victim told Rough Draft she went onto a neighbor’s front porch on Sinclair Avenue, but the owner wasn’t home. She called 911 as the suspect walked up and down the sidewalk staring at her. While she was making the report to the dispatcher, the woman said the man exposed himself and began to masturbate in the street.
“I felt like prey,” the woman said. “I was trapped on the porch until another neighbor came out and let me wait for the police in his home. As soon as the APD officer arrived, he [the suspect] fled on foot.”
A spreadsheet shared with Rough Draft, compiled by residents in Inman Park, Candler Park, Virginia-Highland, Lake Claire, and Edgewood, lists nearly 40 separate incidents where the suspect allegedly verbally harassed, invaded personal space, encroached on private property, and publicly masturbated in front of women and children in the neighborhoods.
