Fall at Congregation Or VeShalom means the return of the congregration’s annual bazaar, known for its offerings of Old World pastries.

Women of the congregation’s sisterhood are busy preparing for the 35th Annual Bazaar, to be held on Sunday, Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Food sold at the bazaar includes pastries called borekas that are filled with potato, rice, spinach or eggplant; and sweets such as baklava, burmelos (fried dough dipped in honey syrup) and biscochos (cinnamon sugar cookies). Thirty to 40 women gather each week to bake pastries for the sale.

The bazaar also offers handcrafted jewelry, pottery, art, gifts, Judaica, a raffle, a silent auction and a book sale. For children, the bazaar offers a moonwalk, face painting, games, and arts and crafts.

Tickets cost $2.50.  Congregation Or VeShalom is located at 1681 North Druid Hills Road, just minutes from Lenox Square.  Free parking is available at the synagogue and across the street at Cross Keys High School.
