WBS-TV will present a special program on July 12 at 7 p.m. celebrating the 40th anniversary of its Family 2 Family initiative.

WSB-TV launched Family 2 Family in 1986, according to a press release. Family 2 Family is an initiative meant to explore issues facing Georgia families via WSB-TV’s news service, as well as give back to the community.

“We began Family 2 Family with a commitment to the issues that matter most, and that commitment is just as strong today as it was forty years ago,” said WSB-TV President Marian Pittman in a press release.

According to the press release, the July 12 program will focus on the initiative’s primetime specials over the years, its support for local nonprofits, and its weekly People 2 People program, a community-focused segment that airs on Sundays

The special will also take a closer look at community outreach efforts like Convoy of Care, which helps deliver supplies and relief after natural disasters; and Stuff the Bus, which helps collect school supplies for kids in need.

“From helping families during times of need to supporting the next generation, Family 2 Family continues to reflect WSB-TV’s long-standing commitment to the people and communities it serves,” said WSB-TV Director of Community & Public Affairs Condace Pressley in the release.
