A Sandy Springs school won a national online contest that will provide it with $100,000 to pay for a new roof, the school announced.

Greenfield Hebrew Academy won the top prize in the contest over school needs sponsored by the Web browser company bing.com, the school said in a press release.

“Our roof is just a mess. There are leaks,” said Mitzi Zieve, Greenfield’s director of community relations. “People are slipping and sliding everywhere.”

Greenfield won the prize after online voters chose the school’s entry, an essay and a hip-hop video outlining the school’s need for a roof, bing.com said on its website.

“Over 700 schools entered the contest and we couldn’t have won without the support of the entire community,” Rabbi Lee Buckman, Head of School at Greenfield, said in the school’s announcement.

GHA received more than 25,000 votes and many of the votes came from schools, friends and family across the nation, the school said.

Greenfield will host bing.com officials Nov. 12 to celebrate the award.
