Police have identified the man shot to death by Atlanta police after a bank robbery in Sandy Springs.

Sandy Springs Police on March 10 identified the man as Michael Hammond, 47, of Atlanta.

Hammond was shot by a police officer after a chase in Buckhead, police said. The chase began after Atlanta officers recognized a car linked to the robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank at 5555 New Northside Drive about noon March 9, Sandy Springs police said.
