Mayor Kasim Reed and Live Nation’s Peter Conlon have announced the return of Music Midtown to the Meadow at Piedmont Park on Saturday, Sept. 24, with Coldplay as the headlining act. Tickets, which are $56,  go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, at www.musicmidtown.com, www.livenation.com or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

Other acts include The Black Keys, Cage the Elephant, Manchester Orchestra, Young The Giant, Band of Skulls, Joy Formidable, The Constellations, Mona and The Postelles.

From 1994-2005, the Music Midtown concert series attracted hundreds of thousands of people to the heart of the city for live music and food.  This year, a portion of the proceeds from Music Midtown will go toward funding recreation centers and after-school activities for young people in the city as part of Mayor Reed’s Centers of Hope initiative.

“It is exciting to finally announce the return of Music Midtown.  Cities are defined by events like this and it is important to Atlanta to have a major music festival again,” said Conlon. “Major music events spotlight new talent and national favorites and most of all bring communities together.  It is exactly what Music Midtown does.”
